Pink Car Interior Accessories

My car got the pink treatment and now every coffee run feels a little happier. A pink steering wheel cover, seat belt covers, coasters, vent clips, a phone holder and a tiny trash can. Small things, big difference.

Start with the steering wheel cover

I did this one piece at a time, and the steering wheel cover is the one I would buy first. You touch it every single day. It is the first thing anyone sees when they open your passenger door, and it makes the whole car feel like yours.

Fit matters more than anything here. Measure your steering wheel before you order and compare it to the size on the listing. A cover that is too loose will slide when you turn, and that is not cute, that is dangerous. A snug one takes some wrestling to get on. Start at the top, work it down both sides and push the bottom on last.

One honest note about rhinestones. On a really bright afternoon they can catch the sun. If you drive into a low sun every evening, pay attention the first week and see how it feels. The quilted part is soft and grippy, and on a cold morning it is a lot nicer to hold than bare plastic.

Seat belts, cup holders and vents

The seat belt covers come in a five pack, and they have the same pink quilted look as the wheel cover, so everything matches. Wrap one around each belt at shoulder height, where the strap rubs your neck. Keep them away from the buckle and the spot where the belt pulls back into the wall. The belt needs to slide and lock exactly the way it always did.

The cup holder coasters drop into the bottom of your cup holders and catch the drips from your iced coffee, which in my car is a daily problem. Check the diameter on the listing so they actually fit. Pull them out and rinse them when they get sticky.

The heart rhinestone vent clips slide onto the slats of your air vents. Put them on vents you do not adjust much, and leave room for air to come through. They are small, a little over the top in the best way, and they make me smile at red lights.

Phone holder and a place for trash

The phone holder is the one piece with a real safety job. Put it somewhere low that lets you glance at directions without blocking your view of the road. Never in the middle of the windshield.

Set it up while you are parked, not at a light. Put your phone in, make sure the arms grip it tight, and give it a little shake. If it wobbles, it will fall the first time you hit a pothole, and then you are digging under the seat for your phone while the map app yells at you to turn.

The little pink trash can hangs on the back of the passenger seat or sits on the floor behind the console. Keep it far away from your pedals. Empty it every time you get gas and it never gets gross.

Pink on purpose, not pink everywhere

Six pieces sounds like a lot, but in a car it all spreads out. Wheel, belts, cup holders, vents, dash and back seat. Nothing piles up in one spot, so it looks finished instead of cluttered. If you want to start smaller, do the steering wheel cover and the coasters first. Those two change the feel of the car the most for the least effort.

Please do not light a candle in your car. And do not leave a real lipstick on the dash in July either. I did once. It melted into a pink puddle and I am still finding traces of it.

Keep anything that hangs or dangles off the rearview mirror and out of your line of sight. Everything on this list sits where you can still see and reach what you need while driving. That is the whole rule. Cute is great. Cute that makes you miss a stop sign is not.

Anything in the photos that is not on the shopping list above is a styling extra, so use what you already own.
