Pink Pageant Queen Halloween Costume

Some Halloweens call for a crown. A pink satin gown, a crystal tiara, opera gloves and hot pink heels make a pageant queen in five pieces, and the gown and heels come back out for the next fancy occasion.

Five pieces and a crown

Pageant queen is the costume for the year you want to walk into a party and have everyone stand up a little straighter. Tiara at the top, gown in the middle, gloves at the arms, clutch to the left, heels at the bottom. Put it on gown first, gloves second, tiara last.

The pink satin maxi gown is fitted through the body and falls long, with a softer layer across the shoulders. That movement is the whole pageant energy.

Check the size chart on the listing and go by your measurements. Satin is honest. It shows every line, so a fitted gown in the wrong size looks wrong fast. If you are between sizes, the bigger one is easier to fix with a few safety pins at the back than the smaller one is to breathe in.

Gloves, tiara and big hair

The pink long satin opera gloves go past the elbow, and they are what make this read pageant instead of prom. Check the sizing on the listing. Put them on before any rings, not after, and expect to slip one off to text, because gloves and phones do not get along.

The crystal tiara sits best on loose waves, like I did, and set it about an inch back from your hairline. Bobby pins crossed behind each end keep it from sliding. If it has little combs, push them in at an angle toward the back of your head.

Big hair helps. Curl it the night before or the afternoon of, then brush the curls out for volume. Makeup can go as dramatic as you want. Glowy skin, pink lip, lashes, and some shimmer on the cheekbones so the tiara is not the only thing catching the light.

Clutch and heels without the pain

The pink pleated satin clutch matches the satin of the gown. Check the dimensions on the listing before you plan on your phone fitting inside. Lipstick, a card and a key are the safe bet, and the phone can live in your gloved hand.

The hot pink satin strappy heels are the one bold color in the whole look. They are brighter than everything else, which keeps the outfit from looking washed out. Check the size chart. Strappy heels can rub, so put a bandage on your pinky toe before you leave.

A long gown and heels on stairs is a real risk. Hold the front of the skirt up an inch with your free hand on any steps and take them slower than you think you need to. Practice a lap of the hallway at home. Nobody saw. Still counts.

From Halloween to the next fancy night

You do not need roses or a sash for this. Grab a drink you like and hold it the way pageant queens hold roses.

This is a warm costume in a crowded room and a cold costume outside. Satin does not hold heat. If you are walking anywhere in late October, throw a long coat or a wrap over your shoulders until you are inside. Keep the gloves on for the walk. They help more than you would expect.

The best part is that the gown and heels go right back into your closet for a wedding, a gala or any night you want to look like you tried very hard. The tiara comes out for birthdays. The gloves come out whenever you feel like being a little extra at dinner. I do not need a reason and neither do you.

Anything in the photos that is not on the shopping list above is a styling extra, so use what you already own.
