Pink Flamingo Office Halloween Costume

I wanted a Halloween costume I could actually wear to work, so I went with a flamingo. A dusty rose midi dress, a fluffy pink fascinator and little flamingo earrings, and nobody has to know it is a costume until they look closely. Most of it stays in my closet after October.

A work dress that happens to be a flamingo

The trick with an office costume is that it has to pass a meeting. The pink flowy midi work dress does that.

Smocking stretches, which makes sizing more forgiving than a fitted dress, but still check the size chart on the listing for length. A midi should hit mid calf or just above. If you are petite it may land lower, which is fine with flats and a little odd with boots.

Long sleeves are the quiet win for an office costume. Most workplaces run cold in October, and nobody wants to spend Halloween at their desk with goosebumps. The dusty rose shade also sits right in the middle, soft enough for a meeting and pink enough to read flamingo with the feathers on top. Wear a slip underneath if the skirt layers feel thin under bright office lights.

The feathers do the flamingo part

The pink feather fascinator headband is the costume. Without it you are a woman in a pink dress. With it, people smile in the elevator. Feather pieces tend to shed a little. Keep a lint roller in your desk drawer.

The pink flamingo glitter dangle earrings are the inside joke. Most people will not clock them until they are standing right next to you, which is exactly why I like them. Pull your hair back on one side so at least one flamingo is visible.

I wore this to a check-in call and nobody said a word for twenty minutes. Then someone noticed the earrings and asked if I was supposed to be something. Yes. A flamingo. Obviously. That is the sweet spot for work costumes. Festive enough to join in, quiet enough that a client on video does not wonder what is going on, and you never have to change before your three o'clock.

Tights, flats and a bag that fits a planner

Soft opaque pink tights tie the whole thing together and save you from a cold office with bare legs. Match the pinks as close as you can, then stop worrying about it. Flamingos are not all one shade either. Check the size chart on the listing and size up if you are tall, because tights that sit too low at the waist will slide all day and you will be adjusting them in the supply closet.

The pink satin Mary Jane flats have a strap across the top that keeps them on through a full day of walking to the printer and back. Satin marks easily, so skip them on a rainy commute and change at your desk. The pink bow top handle crossbody bag works carried by the handle like I have it, or on the long strap when you need both hands.

What stays in your closet after October

Take off the feathers and this is just a nice work outfit. The dress goes into regular rotation with a cardigan. The tights work all winter. The flats and bag go with jeans on a Friday. Only the fascinator and the earrings are pure costume, and even the earrings get worn in summer.

Budget version, use any pink or dusty rose dress you already own and add the headband and earrings. Even a pink sweater and a pink skirt work if they are close in tone. Do not buy those just for a costume. Buy them because you will wear them all spring.

Anything in the photos that is not on the shopping list above is a styling extra, so use what you already own.
